race shop in San Diego area?
« on: November 22, 2020, 10:42:25 PM »
I have a buddy in San Diego who has a 15 year old KX80 or 85 and wants to get it going for his son to play ride in the dez. He's owned it for a ton of years but he's not a moto guy and it's not been ridden in years. He needs a moto mechanic with some 'cred who can give the bike a once over, maybe clean up the jetting, or even do a top end/other work if needed. The bike runs apparently, but he has no idea how well.

Any recommendations for someone that does quality work down there?

If Lake Forest isn't that far North for your friend, he could take it Teddy at Boyko Racing, he does my motor builds for my KX500.

And of course there is the tried and true "Shamus" here on the board if your friend is willing to travel to Yorba Linda.

If you're still looking, I'm in San Diego and do rebuilds/frame up builds for fun.  I can show you examples of my work to verify competency.  Only stuff I don't get into is suspension revalves & shock rebuilds.

Thanks for the suggestions! I passed them all on to my buddy in SD.
