Tried to ride up the Ortega to the South Main divide road today to see if it was open and cruise around. Got stopped about 1/2 way up due to an accident. Didn't get any details on who or what kind of vehicle but they said the road would be closed for "45 minutes to an hour" or longer. We saw an ambulance go by hopefully those involved aren't hurt too bad.
Anyway got home and got to thinking I'm tired of riding on the street so I spur of the moment booked a cabin for 3 nights in Big Bear, fuggit.  Covid has most of the events up there cancelled so it should be semi-uncrowded hopefully. Last year we coincided with some big bike race and everywhere was packed.

8/1-2.  It isn't a real big one though.

We're there the 6th through the 9th. Just a 3 night quickie to get out of Dodge for a couple days. Last time we went there was a huge bike race, but it was only an issue when we wanted to go eat, every where was maxed with a wait. We got stuck behind a pack for a mile or 2 on the pavement but hardly saw anyone in the dirt. We're planning on cooking every meal at the cabin, we  like going out to eat, especially on vacation, but aren't sure how many places will be open.
