Used gas for years and never had one issue. The key is don't let them sit after the gas. Straight to getting coated with Dawn & washed and rinsed at least 3 times.
Dawn dishwashing detergent on fab 1 works fine. But pro filters are 8 bucks, with a dry filter skin and reg so cal riding I buy about 6 a year. No need to clean.

I'd opt out of the filter skins but I would give them a fresh soak / squeeze in Maxima FFT before installing.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00310V8YS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Less flammable by a mile, still cuts the filter oil well and washes out with Dawn and leaves the filter like new. Doesn't attack the filter glue either.
Why? They're already oiled.
Haven't even taken mine out since I got the bike. Never had an issue.
