Thanks for the podcast Michael. Having gone through a somewhat similar "job displacement" as Donn, I can understand the emotional rollercoaster that happens at first. I've known Donn and you for a long time, and to me, it was more of a couple of friends talking about something very close and personal instead of just another interview.

Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

BTW, you're going to have to give me some riding tips now that you've helped that Mike10 dude out. He's my "practice" competitor and I can't let him have an edge...

I picked up a Leatt GPX 5.5 a couple of months ago and couldn't wear it.  Felt like I'd probably have some kind of Hindu 3rd eye after a moto; one of the 360 Turbine pucks are placed smack on the forehaed.  My friend has a more rounded head and it fits him great.  My long oval shaped head didn't get along with the Leatt, maybe the next size up with some thicker side pads would do- but I don't know if Leatt makes such accessory pads.

 Yeah, that's exactly what it felt like when I tried one on. Guess I'm also of the oval head variety!!

I was looking to try the new Leatt to see if it fit any better than the last Leatt I tried. That one had a pressure point right in the middle of my forehead and it felt really bad. Very annoying. I heard the newest ones have a different inside shape and are ok now.

The original did the same to me. They remolded the whole line after the first year and I haven't had that issue since.

Cool, thanks. I'll have to see who has them so I can try one on. Chaparral is supposed to carry them, but I didn't see any last time I was there.

The Place / Trans Am Vet Classic on March 22-24 at Glen Helen
« on: March 12, 2019, 08:58:33 AM »
The Trans Am Vet race is on again this year at Glen Helen. It was a great event last year and it looks like it will be a repeat this year. The race includes the Nat track and also parts of the REM track.

From the website
"The Trans Am crossed over last year into a Vet only event.  Classes for 25 years and older racers in every skill level.  2 Stroke Class, Clydesdale Class, SX Party, The Great Escape Night Race and fast former pro's like Ryan Villapoto, Jeff Matasevich, Kurt Nicoll and many more!  Don't miss this awesome event.  The blisters and bench racing creates memories for a lifetime."

So I tried on the new Atr-2 6D helmet and I really liked the fit. I also tried the Atr-1, which is the older helmet, and it also fit ok. But I did notice the lighter weight of the Atr-2. But just don't know about the $700 price on them. I know there are other helmets that have similar safety specs, but are around $200 cheaper, such as the Leatt, and TLD.

What are your thoughts??

The Place / REM was a blast today
« on: February 23, 2019, 06:05:03 PM »
Man, the track layout was great. But it was rough with braking and accel bumps in all the usual places and other places too. The canyon was challenging due to the super deep soft wet sand, just had to keep the throttle on hard with your butt off the rear.

All that roughness just made it so if your suspension was not set up, you could be minus some fillings   That being said, I really had a blast, as you had to work the lines and stay focused. It's so much fun racing with a great group. Thanks REM. I'm still smiling.
