MX tech talk / Re: 2016.5 KTM450 SXF Spoke Problems?
« on: December 17, 2016, 06:13:59 PM »Thought I would follow up on how this all went down. I plugged my serial number in on the factory web site and no recall on my bike. So I called Malcolm Smith Motorsports in Riverside to check if they knew of any recall on my bike. I explained what happened and how after looking closer it appears the spoke might have gotten caught in the front break causing the endo in the first place. To their credit the service representative said bring it in and if it looks the part he would look into warrantying it. I received the call yesterday and good news. KTM is replacing the front wheel complete, one radiator with shroud, plastic air veins and graphics. They are even giving me a new factory Akrapovic sticker that was scuffed on the silencer to keep it all looking fresh like before the crash. I wanted to be sure and give a shout out to both Malcolm Smith Motorsports and KTM for being stand up and taking care of me the customer. We will never know for sure exactly when the spoke nipple broke, but it is nice that they had my back. I try and practice this in my personal business and rarely does it come back my way. Cant wait to get back on the bike. It is truly a joy to ride! Thank fofity for getting me going in the right direction.
