Halloween weekend. Should be empty  :)

You want to join us?  There is some fun sections.  A 500 is pretty ideal.   Pinyon to fish creek, through ocotillo, borrego then come back through grapevine canyon

3rd year in a row for me.   Tons of riding, can ride technical or easy big bike stuff, or both.

Do I have to be street legal?

I guess it would depend of where you plan on riding.  I see people bring out mx bikes, drive out to certain sections, unload and go find all the POI.  For example,  there are lots of POI spots in Ocotollo wells and north of Ocotillo wells (north of the 4x4 training grounds).   You would need to be in the stagecoach RV staging area to check in, load up the truck and drive to ocotillo, unload, ride to all your spots (there is a lot of spots)  take a pic your bike in front of the POI, your bike would have an assigned number on it to prove it's yours. etc  The points get added up at the end of each day.  The POI's are rated like snowboarding.  Green, Blue, Black Diamond, double black diamond, depending on how difficult the terrain is.  the more difficult, the more points.   Some of the double diamonds, you are getting over rock/boulder ledges about 3' high, but nothing too difficult. It's a lot of fun.  I bring multiple bikes, depending on the area's we want to go after and who is joining us.

They used IG as the point/pic database  Here are some examples

Barcia is clearly nervous for his job. Someone has been fender testing and it is obvious it has not gone unnoticed.

According to Rocky Mtn ATV, a 16 and 18 have the same part number for a tusk complete rear wheel

4 is my limit.  I need to sell one to buy one.  Had to sell my old CRF250r

KTM 790 adventure r
500 exc
300 XC-W tpi

Gasgas MC450

Would be real tough to have to sell any of the 3 ktms.   They are all pretty dialed. So no reason to upgrade

When did you sell the CRF450L?

Didnt know you had a CRF250 MX bike. Sounds like its gone now.

I sold the 450L a while ago, bought the 790 and a 300, then later picked up a 500 to make sure I had all types of trail riding covered  lol  Yeah I just sold the 250 to get this

Congrats Pokey!  I hope the front fender is straight   :o

Thanks Lou,  fender seems pretty straight.  Super excited, already order the map switch and rear spring.  I still can

You might want to check out what Jamie at Twisted Developementb is doing with the stock ECU on these bikes.  In the beginning of this year he cracked the code on the OEM ECU.  He can't remap it like a Vortex ECU, but he did a really nice job on resetting both maps on the stock ECU to exactly how I wanted them.

If you have any of these issues you should give him a call.  Bike is 100% dialed in now.

I had a few issues with flame outs (chopping the throttle coming into tight turns and then going from full off to cracking the throttle open) and the bike had a lot of engine breaking.  The engine breaking made the bike power delivery feel choppy and I had to be extra smooth with the throttle to get away from it.

Jamie set map 1 to be smooth and linear with less engine breaking and little more over rev

and Map 2 to be aggressive, less engine breaking and more over rev.

To be honest, Map 1 works so good I don't really use Map 2. Maybe on a track like the Cahuilla main I could use Map 2, but damn it's aggressive ...

Good info, thanks.  I hope to have the rear spring before this coming weekend, so I can go try this out.  Trying to comprehend "chopping the throttle" until the neck burn happens

Ron Shuler of ESR Suspension.  He's made my air forks 90-95% as good as a KYB kit for a fraction of the cost.

I will look into this as well.  Thanks for the info

With regards to the air pressure - The pressure in the forks is nothing but your spring.  It is either stiffer or softer. The valving handles the "plushness" of the ride.  With that said, because of the limited linear nature of the air fork volume, tiny changes in pressure can make a big difference in being stiff or too soft. You 100% have to stay on top of the air pressure.  Just 2-3 lbs can make a noticeable difference and 4-5 lbs is huge.

Always bleed then set your pressure before you ride.  I started the day and first moto at 50 degrees temps and 146 lbs of pressure.  After my first moto and right before my second moto the temp was 70 degrees and the fork had increased to 149lbs of pressure!  Huge difference in the feel of the fork

Anyways the new KTM, Husky GasGas WP stuff can work. You may want to think about revalve for the rear too as all the suspension tuners I talked to said it can make a big difference in the balance of these bikes. I decide to have Corey do a revalve, install a new anodized reservoir tank and change from a piston to a bladder in the tank.  He only charged $300.00 for this mod

Good info Jake. Thank you
