I went to the finals in a Vegas a couple years in a row. I always thought the racing was good. I always wanted to do the amateur raqces. They would do the heat races during the day and the main would be during the night program. Also, they used to do a consolation race sponsored by Baja Designs. They would take all of the guys that didn't make the main, strap headlights to the bikes, turn off the lights in the arena and make race in the dark. That was always fun to watch.

They are close til June 1st because of the nationals..

Oh shit.  Thanks for letting me know

Go to Cahuilla Sean, generally cooler weather up there, and the dirt holds all the rain better. Vet track is fun and perfect if you've been off the bike for awhile.

I'll meet you out there soon, but this weekend is stacked.  :x

Yeah, just not a huge fan of that place.... even though I havenít been in years.
But if Iím driving that far Iíll go to Perris.
I wasn't a big fan of Cahuilla, but that has changed. I really like the place now. You should try it.

Definitely a good day at Cahuilla today!  I didn't realize it was a ProRide day, I didn't see Phil!  :(
It was a great day. I didn't see you there, but the diner afterwards was great.

MX tech talk / Re: Solvent to clean air filters?
« on: June 04, 2018, 03:56:16 PM »
Getting some of this from my buddy at SCL to try out.

Some other options here. He says Solvents are becoming harder and harder to get.

I buy solvent at Dion and Sons in Lakeside. I wash my filters in a regular solvent tank with good ol' oil based solvent, then straight into a bucket with warm water and laundry detergent, then rinse with water.

I've only done that once, back in '09 at the Keith Code school. I wish there was a track a little closer. I might just want to get a track bike too.

I've never done it, but it's on my to do list. It looks fun as shit, plus I can get on one
I highly recommend doing at the school. You don't have a bunch of fast guys on the track, so it's not too intimidating. Go for the all inclusive deal. You get the bike, gear, instructor, etc for a fair price. It even includes insurance in case you drop it. They are using BMW S1000R's now, so the bikes are top notch.

MX tech talk / Re: yz250 engine quirks
« on: July 31, 2017, 10:50:34 AM »
Cut a broomstick and put one end on the engine and your ear up to the other end and listen to the sound reverberating up the wooden dowel. Move the end on the engine around from location to location and listen for changes in the sound to pinpoint where you think it might be coming from. It will isolate the knocking sound from the exhaust tone...give it a try!
A screwdriver works just fine for that. Save the broomstick.

To hold the clutch basket/primary drive, take a shop rag and tie a knot in it near one corner. Feed the end into the gears while rotating the clutch basket. When the knot hits the gears, they will stop, then put a socket of appropriate size on the nut and turn it.
