« on: March 16, 2020, 02:10:28 PM »

A friend of a friend found this lost German Shepherd at El Mirage this past weekend. I've already posted it on VitalMX, and was hoping someone here could also share it on ThumperTalk and and/or RaceDesert?

Thank you!

MX tech talk / 2014 YZ250F Front Brake Issues? No pressure!
« on: January 25, 2018, 07:48:01 AM »

Having issues with the 2014 YZ250F front brake master cylinder, line and caliper I'm running on my KX500.

Initially I got some pressure in the lever while bleeding the system. Maybe about halfway, it would have solid pressure, but the lever was too close to the grip once it came to a stop.

Decided I'd try the 2015 KX450 master cylinder that was on my KX500 when I bought it. (Which previously worked.)

Got the same result, the lever would pull in about halfway before getting solid pressure.

Okay, lets try the Ride Eng. brake line that was on my KX500 with the 2015 KX450 master cylinder. (Which previously worked.)

After swapping the line and bleeding it for an eternity I had NO PRESSURE?!!

The only thing I haven't messed with is the YZ250F caliper.

I checked the KX450 master cylinder and it doesn't leak when the line is removed and with the line removed and it builds plenty of pressure.

So it appears I either have some serious air trapped in the lines or something is bad with the caliper?

With the master cylinder connected to the line and the master cylinder topped off, I hung the caliper above the master cylinder, hoping to relieve any trapped air?

The brake fluid I'm using, is Motul 600 Dot 4.

Getting close to just throwing a drum hub on it!!

Any help is much appreciated!

"Questions to the Moto-X Gurus"
                                                                                                                                           ProRide News June 12th, 1975

Dear ProRide Gurus,

If I'm mixing up 5 gallons of 102 leaded octange pump gas with Yamalube 2R at 32:1 plus one 4 oz. can of Nitro 9, should I pour out 4 oz. of fuel out of my 5 gallon jug before adding the 4 oz. of Nitro 9 or should I just add the 4 oz. of Nitro 9 and call it good or should I change my mixture to 28:1 to account for the 4 oz. Nitro 9? Will the 4 oz. of Nitro 9 effect the heat range in the cylinder enough to need to change from a B8ES spark plug to a BR9ES spark plug? If I change my mixture to 28:1 to compensate for the 4 oz. of Nitro 9, should I think about leaning out my jetting to compensate for the extra oil? Would it be possible that running 28:1 to compensate for the 4 oz. of Nitro 9 could be too much oil in the mixture and cause a colder plug, like a BR9ES to foil?

« on: April 22, 2014, 04:27:53 PM »

So that I don't have to go back and forth trying all of the different ways to properly install grips according to the experts here, I was thinking of trying these.

Has anyone tried them? 8)

MX tech talk / Rear TCR Hub Problems / Damage?
« on: January 07, 2013, 03:16:44 PM »

Someone at REM a few weeks ago on KTM broke a rear TCR hub, supposedly the sprocket mounting tabs gave way?

Mxjef said it was Nickvalve that helped the guy push his bike off of the track?

I've got TCR hubs on my KX450 and I'm wondering if anyone else has heard anything about problems with them?

I always use Talon brand sprocket bolts, I'm wondering if the guy on the KTM had used his stock sprocket bolts, maybe they weren't torqued and checked after the first ride or so?

MX tech talk / Rim Locks?
« on: November 18, 2012, 01:41:44 PM »

Blew out a couple tubes at Pala yesterday due to the rubber part of my rim lock seperating from the metal.

Can you guys recommend a good rim lock?

Or not...just found this photo of a MP rim lock. :?

Showed up for Friday Amateur Practice with Trophybug19 and Millsaps326. Practice started around 10AM and it was already hotter than hell. The practice sessions were 3 laps for each division and on a track that long and gnarly, 3 laps was plenty!! All said I think I did 7 practice sessions and Trophybug requested that I throw on my GoPro for my last practice.

During my last practice some dude decided he didn't want me to pass him so he took me high in the next corner, so I got back in front of him and waited for him on this uphill, got in front of him and roosted him all the way up the entire hill. Then I set him up for the next corner, letting him have the outside, I ran him high and was laughing inside my helmet!!

Here is the video...the track was gnarly and I was overheated and spent.

Oh and they put a roller in front of that huge Lucas Oil double so us amateurs wouldn't jump it. :x

MX tech talk / Motion Pro gauge problems...
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:52:39 PM »
Can't seem to get this gauge I bought to work right. It has a little brass bleeder valve on the top and I make sure to bleed it every time I check my tire pressure. I used it at LOMX last saturday and my tires didn't feel right so I came back in and checked them with my cheap bikemaster brand gauge. I was shooting for 12.5psi front and 12 rear. When I checked it, I was at 18F and 17R. Again at Milestone this morning I tried using it again, made sure to bleed the gauge and set my tire pressure where I wanted it (12.5F and 12R). My tires didn't feel right so I came back in and checked it with my cheap gauge. I was at 19F and 18R. :?

Anyone have any problems with these gauges?

Went out with lbccrf450r, Millsaps326 and met up with gt871, ds711, SoCal18 and his CR500AF crew!!

It was hotter than hell and I should have recorded the track in the morning, it was prepped and watered well. The guys working the water hoses were on it all day until later in the afternoon. The track held up well, the extra length was a plus, but we all missed the step up double booter in the middle of the track. With a few changes to the track, the step up double is now a step down. It's okay but nowhere near as fun as it was before.

Blah blah's the vid!

MX tech talk / Injectioneering...anyone ever use them?
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:23:43 PM »
Thinking part of the stumble or bog that I'm having could be related to the throttle body. I notice it usually happens when I'm in the air and pinning the throttle before landing.

I'm not getting any FI light codes anymore, I think my problem could have been the Mobil fuel I was using during those rides when I noticed the code. I always use fuel from the Shell station by my house, so maybe I got a bad batch of fuel from Mobil?

I've had a few people tell me that Injectioneering might be able to solve my problems...I though I'd just ask and see if anyone here has tried them?
