Sunday's a question mark for me right now but tomorrow Wednesday 12-13, I'm going to the dog park at 2 pm. That's the 3 year anniversary of my cartwheel deal at Perris so I'm blowing off the afternoon to go ride. Just cuz.... I can !

Bill, I run the Butcher tires at 21 PSI (Tubeless) on my e-bike and they work fine.  Not as stiff as the Maxxis, bit great for the areas I ride in (Newport Coast, Aliso, Dog Park and occasionally Waterworks)

Last time out I ran 20 in the tires and dropped from 105 to 99 on the forks. I was surprised how much better it got.

I'm over the squishy 2.6 butcher front for sure

I actually like the Butcher tire, it's way better than the old Speci tires.  I run Maxxis Assegai Maxgrip on the front and the DHR Maxterra (both EXO+ sidewall) on the rear on my other bikes.  That has been a good combination for most everything.  I've stuck with the Speci tires on my ebike because there aren't a lot of 2.6" wide tires out there.

For now I'm going to play around with things that are free       On the list for this afternoons ride is, a couple less psi in the forks, mine are 105 per the my weight on the sticker on the fork. The husky had 97, I'm going to try 100 and see if I can tell a difference, I noticed I'm not using all the front travel.  And more psi in the tires, I've been running 18-20. Going to try 22-24.   I haven't messed with the flip chip yet. The plan is to do a couple practice flips in the garage to program it into my auto-pilot.  It looks like a 2 minute operation once you do it a couple times. Then go do the same trail back to back in the different spots.

Kind of funny I raced mx for over 30 years and hardly ever fiddled around with my clickers or oil level height or anything, just took it to Nick, said make it work, eyeballed the sag around 4" and never F'ed with it again.  Tires ? Like Barry say's, "Round and Black"  whatever I won at a raffle and we're good to go.  I haven't had this thing for a year yet and I've spent more time on set up than in my 30 years of moto combined.  I probably should have, maybe I'd of made it out of the novice class

There are way too many tires to choose from LOL  Marcus aka Naked Monkey (ex maxxis tire rep) is currently trying

Front 2.4 Schwalbe magic mary

Rear 2.6 Schwalbe big betty  (my rears a 29)

Thoughts or other ideas ?  I'm over the squishy 2.6 butcher front for sure  I didn't realize how much it sucked until I rode the demo husky.  Slowly learning

I did a demo ride on a husky today.  I liked it. Not enough to switch but after riding it I'm going to make a couple changes. The front felt a little more planted in the corners than mine. I haven't tried flipping the thing to steepen the head angle yet, I'm going to try that. And my front tire is a piece of crap. Way too flexy. The husky had Scorpion tires, I don't know if those are high end or low end or somewhere in the middle. But they were noticeably better than what I'm running now. Besides that they felt similar, although the Husky rattled and made more mechanical noise in the choppy stuff than my YT, and it has over 1,000 miles.  Very happy it wasn't worlds better than what I'm on

So tires next I guess. I got an new Ergo seat (with the taint cooling vent) and some larger diameter Ergo grips. Those two things made more of a difference that I thought they would.  looks like we're not quite done spending $ ....

still cheaper than moto  :P

The Place / Re: Elsinore Oval Track
« on: November 20, 2023, 12:07:16 AM »
There is an oval track there and it's currently in the process of getting revamped with another 18"-24" of a sandier DG type dirt mix and focusing on the shorter track configuration so it's not quite as long as the previous layout.

I've been working with earthmx for a little while to get this going, but there have been some general everyday life things that have been keeping us from getting it finished. Once it is finished, the plan is to start out running open flat track and speedway practices and eventually get a small race series going in the hopefully not so distant future.  8)

Social media killed this forum. I remember driving home from work and I couldn’t wait to crank the dial up internet and see the stupidity and absolutely bonkers photoshop razzing between all these clowns on this board.  It was all in good fun and no sissy a$$ got their feelings hurt no matter how brutal it was. Well except for crouching tiger or squating kitty

I never looked at a blue tarp the same again

There is a hidden board that only people that are invited can see, it's mostly the old school Proride people.  We talk shit on it all day long.

“One of the hardest trails at dog park” “Gap jumps”  “Do not ride this trail unless you have advanced jumping skills”   Sounds right up my alley

Sounds good let me know when you’re ready.  I’m not sure which one Bad influence is yet, let me guess, straight down some cliff ?   Hope you’re feeling better soon. I’ve been riding mostly with naked monkey Marcus, solo, or with Sid. Sid’s good to go with cause he seems to know every trail, everywhere, but once a week or so is about all the information I can handle. I appreciate his enthusiasm and trail knowledge but...... how should I gracefully put this,    You’ve heard the phrase silence is golden correct ? I think that’s the one thing Sid hasn’t figured out yet. Great guy but every ride I’m like Dude stop I get it.  Half of this shit still sketches me out, my brains too busy already shut up  😂😂 He means well lol

Dog Park Sunday ?

I've been slowly trying to learn the layout there. Went everyday this week. So far have been on Phil's World, Sloppy seconds, Car crash, Dia, 12 steps, Full Metal Jacket (top half only, bottom is still overgrown) Mountain Lion trail, 04's, Holeshot, Bottoms up, Blue Chair, Hole in the fence, Dan's, Dan Juan, and a lot of the easy ones on the bottom, no tools and Patsy's.  So far the only one I've pussed out on is that one section oh car crash, but I've only been down it once, I'm sure there's a good line but I didn't see it. I haven't done that one again yet  :?    I'm still slow af but at least I'm rolling down now instead of skidding  :P  Although my bike said I hit 41 mph today, either on Dia or 12 Steps not sure which one. It seemed like I hit a couple fast drops, but it didn't seem that fast, maybe the thing goofed up.
I've been trying to go around 3 everyday during the week since it's dark at 5 now.  We start work at 6:30am, at 2:30 I drop everything  and try to in the dirt by 3. Also checked out the trails behind Target, and over the bridge on La Pata. Fun area but small. Been to Laguna a few times. Still pretty green over there, usually park at Aliso Woods and go up Cholla then over to Meadow. That one was all cleared out when I rode it last week.  Been going to Las Ramblas a fair amount, I haven't done the new one YnoT but I heard it's stupid steep. And I saw they're working on another one called patches that look fun. After Killer towed (dragged? lol) me down Shovelhead I actually like that one now. It still makes me pucker though. That's the one I swore I'd never do lol.  "Just lean back and rolldown trust me,  and oh yeah don't touch the brakes..."   Have only been to Waterworks 2 or 3 times since I got KO'ed by the tree branch.  Anyway just checking in. Anyone riding Sunday ?

Everyone all put back together ?  Dog Park or Laguna next week ?  Las Ramblas ?   All 3 ?  I've been trying to go everyday. The time change is Saturday so I need to start going earlier or get lights. I like the go earlier idea    Wheels in the dirt by 3:00.  Doable ?
When and where ?
