I was to say, the layout at Barona right now is very fun. Prep was good too, but it's always the type of track that breaks down to form sticky and slick spots. They are racing this Saturday, but have open practice Sunday. :?
Thinking Elsinore again Saturday, and if not then Barona Sunday.

Just raced there sunday with OTHG. Track has some bigger jumps that look big but everything can be done easy in 3rd gear on a 450. Prep is always good. And if you buy the CalCity desert sticker you can go ride all over the desert as well.

I’ve always liked that place. The dirt is great and the prep has always been on point. Too bad it’s so far for me or I’d ride there more often.
That being said, I’ll try to get up there before summer gets here at least once.

No. The closet home to the track is 7 miles away. There is a prison a little closer but don't think that will be a proble, . They have the master plan grid for the city but there is zero stuff built out that way.

Barona practice pricing up to $35.
Track was good, but could use some adjustments, namely the 2nd jump along the top, they took the middle double landing out of it, and 98% of riders aren't jumping the whole thing so it just kills your flow now. They neutered some of the takeoffs to the smaller jumps too which doesn't help.
Stoked to be out there with SanoMotocross / DirtCycleWill and get a few pics.
Whoever #93 on the new KTM was would've beat Eli Tomac around that track today. Ridiculously fast. :shock:

OK, only a portion of the track was a replica. His 10 Commandments were too tall with no transition and were more like SX whoops. I give it a "Meh". :lol:

Haha still better than not riding at all! Cahuilla, or Chalupa as I call it during typical blown-out summertime motos, was better than expected yesterday. The shorter summer layout flows well and isn't too intimidating for most. Just had some minor complaints that could easily be "fixed": A few jump faces got extremely knuckled up; think nasty swaps for a couple unfortunate souls. Just pack em' up tighter, Cahuilla Crew! Watering is always difficult from a truck with their elevation and bowl turns, so a Friday night soaking would do wonders over just the Saturday AM douse. Lastly, one of the blind jump/timing sections on the Main has the potential for disaster: For most it's a roll/speed check then double combo, but the fast guys just rail the corner and triple the whole thing...Scary watching the varying abilities mix it up around that thing.
Either way, get out early, beat the heat, and enjoy those summer motos, regardless of location 8)

Ended up at GH yesterday. They shortened the Arroyo track quite a bit, but it was still a really good day/morning of riding. Got on the track right around 8 and called it a day right before 10:30. Not many people for practice, since the regular "Sat at the Glen" used the main track.

I'm doing Elsinore tomorrow and Perris Saturday.
Both tracks will be superb if they don't over water them. Come on out to one of them. If you go to Perris, we can taunt each other into trying to clear the finish line jump. I'm also thinking on trying to double the rollers that are after that jump. If I do the rollers or the finish line jump, that should keep me out of last place...hopefully. You can do those rollers easy with your horse power.
PS - I'm bringing the KX Works bike to Elsinore Friday. You remember that bike don't you. 8)

My 82 RM 465 50+ intermediate. I just finished my rebuild of my 85 CR250 and will be taking it out for the first time tomorrow. Taking it easy since I haven’t been riding much.
Been enjoying SoCal Vintage races and looking forward to competing in all 3 races.

Finessing 2nd gear up a near 20' tall face, with a sandy rut at the bottom transitioning to hard cobble at the top can be quite tricky. Not very far, but the rather short landing goes right back up another sharp transition so you do not want to jump long on this one. :? Doesn't look like much, but it was one of those that gets you fired up once you do it.

Finessing 2nd gear up a near 20' tall face, with a sandy rut at the bottom transitioning to hard cobble at the top can be quite tricky. Not very far, but the rather short landing goes right back up another sharp transition so you do not want to jump long on this one. :? Doesn't look like much, but it was one of those that gets you fired up once you do it.

Well...here is the latest update. Michelle just posted on the otmx site that the new secretary is going to Elsinore tomorrow to look at the Main track to decide if it is safe enough for our geriatric riders. My guess is that they had serious concerns about some of our clubs riders ability to safely navigate it after they saw the videos I posted. I'm also guessing that they will decide to use the Vet (Novice) track instead, but I'm guessing that Michelle will post on Friday if there is a track change.
My plan is to ride both the Main and the Vet track on Friday, then ride there again on Saturday. I rode there today on both tracks as well.
As far as where I park on Saturday goes, it will depend on availability and on whether we are using the Vet or the main for the race. If we are using the Vet, I will park by the Vet track in back by the big trees. If we are using the Main, I will park on the hill overlooking the front straight if there is room. I can save you a spot as well if there is.
I will text you my number right now so you can catch me there as well.

The Vet track is identical to how it was when we last raced there with the exception of 3 very minor changes that don't require more than a couple laps of practice on.
