It will give your bike more responsiveness to throttle input.

My 06 runs stock jetting with some race fuel mixed in 36:1 premix.
Where did you pick up the DEP pipe and what silencer are you running? I'm in the market for a new pipe.

What premix ratio are you running? I recomend 32-40:1.

Looks awful dry (my YZ250 pistons usually have a bit of oil residue on them) and probably a bit lean. Disclaimer I am not a mechanic, but I have done well over a 100 topends on 2t between me and my buddies bikes.

I was able to remove the bearing using a 1/4" wedge anchor and a heat gun I got for 50% off on Black Friday. I should be back in action next weekend.

I need to remove a bearing from the side case of my YZ250. I tried to heat the case in an oven and get it to drop out with no luck. The bearing ID is about 8mm. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to go  with the 99-01 shaft and right side cover t450oped off with a 04 450f kick lever.

MX tech talk / 02-present YZ250 2t kickstart shaft breakage.
« on: October 13, 2015, 10:43:52 AM »
I just had my kickstart shaft fail for the second time in the process destroying the right side cover. The shaft seems to fracture from the hole that locates the kick return spring. This is over $300 to fix and I am trying to figure out a way to prevent this from happening again. I have heard that the larger 20mm vs 18mm 99-01 kick shaft will fit with the 01 side cover can anyone confirm this? On another forum someone suggested filling the hollow shaft with JB weld and redrilling the return spring hole for added strength. I must admit that sounds a bit iffy to me. Any suggestions?

Yes, the chassis bolts (including the engine mount bolts).

I personally remove each bolt (except brake rotor bolts cause they have red locktite) and put a thin coat of antiseize on it and re-torque it to spec. Yes, grease all the bearings, oil the air filter, check oil level. When you have the forks off the grease the steering stem check that each fork leg has oil in it. A friend once bought a Honda that they forgot to put oil in one of the fork legs and it destroyed the internals (Honda covered it).
For break in just avoid revving the piss out of it. You actually want to place a load on the engine in order to properly seat the rings so ride it hard. Change all fluids after break in, Yes even the suspension fluid. There are tons of tiny particles that contaminate the suspension valving after break in.

I ended up back bleeding them with a large syringe and it expelled a large bubble in the master cylinder. Thanks, now if this humidity would go away.

MX tech talk / Brake bleeding help

I removed my sons front brake assembly completely intact (master, hose, and caliper) to do some fork maintenance. When I replaced the brake assembly I now have no pressure at the lever. I have bled several Oz of fluid with zero improvement. There are no bubbles coming out with the fluid. I can see the caliper pistons move a bit when I squeeze the lever but then they move back when its released. Hopefully one of you tech gurus can help. Thanks

I have a bike with 33mm conventional forks that have 6" of travel. Is there a way to determine a starting point for oil level? They are on my sons china (SSR) pitbike that has no tech info available. Thanks in advance.

MX tech talk / Re: What will do this to a piston???

Yes it WAS a Wiseco piston.

You need a better mechanic.
That wasn't what caused the failure. I've been running Wiseco pistons since I was on 80s almost 30 years ago. At times I've ran them way longer than I should have and still have yet to have a failure.
